Welcome to our DOLL & BEAR EXPO 2008 Workshops and Seminars section. This is a work still in progress. We hope that you will start making your plans for the DOLL & BEAR EXPO 2008 as these events have limited space and will fill up fast. DOLL & BEAR WORKSHOPS
WORKSHOP I - Friday 2:00 - 4:30 PM - "Precious Paper People - The Basics of Paper Doll Design" by Diana Vining, Paper Doll Artist and Dorita Mortensen, Editor of Doll Castle News Magazine - Design a full color 11x13 Paper Doll sheet, featuring 1 doll and 4 outfits - This is a hands on demonstration of how a Paper Doll and her clothes can be designed. Various materials will be provided in a Paper Doll Artist Kit to help Attendees to design their own clothes for the Paper Doll. There are a few items that Attendees must bring with them. No drawing skills required. The cost: $50.00 - Maximum Attendees 20
WORKSHOP II - Friday 2:00 - 5:00 PM - "Making & Needle Sculpting An 18" Fabric Doll" by Sandi Tucker - Two part Workshop continues Saturday 1:30 - 4:30 PM - Some items provided but there is a small list of items (we will send this list when you register - items easily available at craft or fabric shops) you will need to bring. You will learn how to: stuff the dolls correctly; how to assemble them correctly; how to needle sculpture faces, arms, hands, knees and feet; how to paint the mouths, and how to apply the eyes and wigs. You will have an 18 inch realistic looking needle sculpted child doll ready to dress. The cost: $50.00 - Maximum Attendees 12
WORKSHOP III - Friday 2:00 - 4:30 PM - "Caring For & Cleaning Your Dolls" by Cece Goin, The Dolly Doctor - You will need to bring a doll to work with. You will be provided with a "Doctor's Kit" which you will use, and will be yours to keep. You will be taught the proper techniques for caring for and cleaning your Doll and its clothing, with some highlights on making minor repairs. This can save you some money later by learning how to properly care for your dolls. The cost $65.00 - Maximum Attendees 15
WORKSOP IV - Friday 2:00 - 5:00 PM - "Let's Make A 17" Jointed Synthetic Bear" by Sally Winey - Everything you will need will be provided. All you have to do is come, learn, enjoy and make your own Bear. This is going to be a fun project for all Bear Lovers. You'll be able to create some lovable and hugable Bears of your own after this Workshop. The cost: $60.00 - Maximum Attendees 25
WORKSHOP V - Friday 1:45 - 5:30 PM - "How To Make A Fine Art Doll" by Elizabeth Dye - Three part Workshop -Part I - "Hands & Feet", Part II on Saturday 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM - "The Head", Part III on Saturday 2:30 - 5:30 PM - "Painting & Putting It All Together" Everything you will need will be provided except a costume for your doll. You need to bring that with you. The cost: $85.00 per session or $220.00 for all three. Priority will be given first to those signing up for all three. Come learn the "art" of sculpting and making your very own Fine Art Doll. Maximum Attendees 15

WORKSHOP VI - Saturday 2:30 - 4:30 PM - "Shirley Temple Dolls Through The Years" by Diana Vining, Paper Doll Artist - You will make a 12 inch "Jumping Jack" Shirley look-alike Paper Doll. This will be a fun and informative program, which will include a 30 minute PowerPoint presentation on the history of Shirley Temple dolls. After the presentation, the Attendees will enjoy coloring and assembling their very own Shirley look-alike Jumping Jack paper doll. Each Attendee will receive a Jumping Jack Paper Doll Kit. No drawing skills required. They will also be provided with a souvenir paper doll by Diana Vining. There are three items that you must provide. The cost: $60.00 - Maximum Attendees 35
DOLL & BEAR SEMINARS
SEMINAR I - Friday 2:30 - 4:00 PM - "All About BARBIE Dolls" by Glenn Mandeville and Richard Chapman. This will be very interesting for every Barbie Collector. These guys know Barbie. They are avid Collectors themselves. They will give you a free handout at the end of the Seminar. There will be some BARBIE'S given away as Door Prizes at this event. The cost: FREE if you sign up for the Friday Night Banquet or the Saturday Night Party, otherwise tickets are $5.00 - Maximum Attendees 50
SEMINAR II - Friday 2:30 - 4:00 - "Let's Talk About Antique Dolls" by Connie Blain, President, NADDA - Connie will have a very interesting discussion that Antique & Vintage Doll Lovers will appreciate. You can learn a lot from Connie, so sign up. See some of her collection. The cost: FREE if you sign up for the Friday Night Banquet or the Saturday Night Party, otherwise tickets are $5.00 - Maximum Attendees 25
SEMINAR III - Saturday 2:30 - 4:00 PM - "History Of The American Fashion Doll" by Glenn Mandeville - Glenn is regarded as "the Expert" in this field, having authored books, given lectures, written columns and is an avid Collector. He will give you a free handout at the end of the Seminar that you can't get anywhere else. There will be some very nice Door Prizes donated by Robert Tonner/Effanbee Doll Company given away at this event. The cost FREE if you sign up for the Friday night Banquet or the Saturday Night Party, otherwise tickets are $5.00 - Maximum Attendees 50
